3 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy


Taking care of yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally when you are pregnant will make things much better for you and for the baby. The following are 3 tips we think should help you accomplish the healthy pregnancy you want.

Healthy Diet

Eating a well-balanced diet, making sure you get a variety of everything as well as eating five or six times a day will give you a good foundation. Drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, preferably more, and avoiding alcohol, smoking, and secondhand smoke will round out the healthy diet. Medications can adversely affect the baby and you should always consult with your doctor before taking any of them.

Healthy Exercise

If all you can do is walk around the block each day, that is enough. Beyond walking around the block, you can participate in activities that your body is used to but maybe not so intensely as you are used to. A swimming pool is a great place to be when you get further along in your pregnancy because of the buoyancy you will feel in the water.

Healthy Sleep

When it is possible, a good night's sleep is essential to a healthy pregnancy and a happy mom. Sometimes getting adequate sleep is not possible, so catching little cat naps when you can is a good idea.
