Breastfeeding vs. Baby Formula Milk: Is Either Better?Uncategorized
The debate between breast-feeding and bottled formula is one that has been waged for a very long time. There is a lot of research to support opinions in both camps, and we have seen this lead many parents to fret and stress about how to best handle this situation. We want to help put this debate to rest and declare once and for all which is better.
The truth is that both are wonderful options and both will allow you to give your child what they need. This may not be the answer you were looking for, but it is true. The best way for you to make this very personal decision for you and your baby is to consider the following:
- Is breast-feeding easy for you? Some women can produce enough milk to feed a whole village of infants, while other women have a hard time producing anything at all. There are some things out there that can help to boost production if you are struggling–but when it comes down to it, this simply might not be something your body can do.
- Can you afford formula? We find it absolutely amazing that scientists have found a way to create a replacement for breast milk that offers the needed nutrients for this delicate stage of life. That being said, it can cost a pretty penny. If you are not ready to pay that amount, then formula may not be the best way to go. But it's important to know that there are also some helpful programs in place, like WIC, that can help you get the needed funds for formula, and we can help point you in the right direction.
